Trucking Regulations in Truck Accident Cases
Truck accidents are typically the most catastrophic of all vehicle accidents that occur on our nation’s roadways. Due the sheer weight and volume of these trucks, a collision with a passenger vehicle, or worse, a motorcycle, can cause catastrophic injuries, even death.
If you are involved in a truck accident in Ft. Lauderdale or Boca Raton, Florida, it is absolutely imperative that you know your rights and be aware of the rules that truckers and trucking companies must abide by to keep our roads safe.
Truck companies and truckers are now often bound by something called Hours of Service (HOS). These regulations determine how many hours a trucker can safely drive his rig before needing to take a break. Typically, these records are kept by hand in the truck’s cab, but there has been a recent push to install Electronic On-Board Recorders in trucks so that drivers cannot falsify their driving time record.
Truck drivers are under a tremendous amount of pressure to meet deadlines and get their loads unloaded so they can accept the next assignment. For this reason, they often do not take enough breaks and are tired behind the wheel. Some drivers must even resort to taking amphetamines to make their deadlines.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a truck accident in central Florida, you need the Glick Law Firm, P.A. on your side to fight to get you the justice and compensation you deserve. Please contact our office today to schedule a confidential consultation.
